[Archer too had received morning on the 14th. It was just that, unlike the majority of the town, he was in no rush to contact the other person. He was nothing like what he was in those memories and she would understand that considering the time they spent in Mayfield, unaware of what happened. Did that mean she forget too? Why were these memories all returned at once, without any real inclination. It was too bizarre for his liking. So, on the 14th, he did what he always did. Woke Rin up, have her yell at him for a good thirty minutes before shipping her off to school, go to his assigned job and then go back home ( ... )

[It was over before it began. There was nothing to understand because everything has already been understood. She knew that from day one, and now, he has also sufficiently matured to come to the same conclusion ( ... )

Yeah.

[That was all he felt he could say under these circumstances. No witty remarks or snide comebacks. It was just a solemn reply. A rarity for Archer, who almost enjoys being as rude and crass as he is to people.]

Mind if we talk.

[he stares a bit dumbfounded at her firing from the hip, one handed, with a rifle. Normally someone being that accurate with a longarm while moving is the purview of a fully genehanced and recoil-compensated Astartes. Or, as the masses call them, Space marines. He is shocked, and almost forgets to clean the rifle he had disassembled.]

[She's... very much human, albeit a Nasuverse one but still thoroughly trained to get to the level that she's at now. She rarely does this publicly, but for the occasion today, it's as good as any form of distraction available.

Still concentrated on clearing the range, she doesn't notice him. It's only a matter of time, though; whether he makes himself known by making a noise, or once she's done with the field first.]

[Eventually he will make himself known by reassembling his own weapon, a carbine Sniper was so kind to lend him. It makes a sharp, metallic clack as it comes together. This will probably happen at the same point as she finishes her pass through the range. He will say, rather more quietly than usual for him.]

"Impressive work, mamzel."

[Which will finally snap her out of that state of focus. Blinking once - and that's the only indication that could hint on her surprise, she lowers the firearm and gives him a faint and sheepish smile as she adjusts her glasses, her previous cold demeanor completely dropped.]

Ah... Thank you, mister. I didn't know that anyone else would be here today. Were you waiting?

[Her smile is perfect.]

Not at all, I just got carried away by work. Geez... I spent 15 minutes last class insisting about something that's a common mistake, and the paper that I was reviewing just now had made it again. I do apologize for my carelessness; are you okay?

[ Finally, a class Napoleon could agree with!

After all, what sort of clone of a French Emperor would he be if he couldn't even speak one of his original's languages? Never minding the fact his original never did get the writing part down... Nevertheless, his writing is definitely better. ]

[Because we never threaded previously Given the nature of Mayfield, Ciel never really paid attention to strange names, but admittedly something like "Bonaparte" DID stand out quite a bit. She was no history buff, but that she was born French did assure her that she would be partially versed in its history. Not to mention that this one was always cheerful and eager to learn and not as short as rumored?..., so maybe it's probably a... different person (?).

That he scored well should probably be no surprise either! So he'll be asked to stop by her desk after class.]

Yes. Haha, it's nothing bad, so you don't have to look nervous. Napoléon Bonaparte, c'est ça? ["Is that right?" If she knew what the name meant and found it peculiar, she showed no signs of it.]
