it is was saturday. the time is approximately 3:30 am. instead of sleeping, i am devising a finite state machine to interface a hitachi hd44780 LCD to an FPGA. what would normally take seconds/minutes to write in C/assembly has taken me an entire day to just think about because i don't get a microprocessor or microcontroller. i have to make one ( Read more... )

interesting story: while my EE105 professor was a grad student at Stanford, there was another grad student there who had been there for 12 years. that grad student went on to kill his professor with an axe.

Sounds reasonable enough.

she also had a graduate student studying under her commit suicide. these came up at a talk on life after graduation.
