one of the next couple years...I should be playing south by and...you and I will get incredibly drunk at more than likely a very early hour. I'm pretty excited...my friends call me lightning played, and than just sold thier badges for like 250 a piece...so they got to party and made 750 on top of whatever else they got.
If you do come down next year, we'll definitely go out to shows and have drinks. Everywhere you go, there's free drinks. All the venues are trying to get you in to their day parties, so many of them provide free food, free beers, free bloody marys, free vodka drinks. Friday afternoon, I was drunk by 3:00 PM. It's a hell of a party. I don't get why people spend $600 for badges when you can catch all the bands you like for free during the day.
You know, I knew about the day parties but I didn't realize a) they were free and b) that such awesome bands played them. Totally makes paying out the ass for wristbands a little ridiculous.
Of all the acts you saw, what were your favorites?
Jandek was absolutely amazing. If you don't know anything about him, I highly suggest watching the documentary "Jandek on Corwood". He was a complete mystery for decades and only started playing shows a couple years ago. He went on stage and never acknowledged the crowd, had his back half turned to the audience, but the music was amazing. Very experimental, but the performance, including his back-up band was mesmerizing

Next time you're up here, we should hang out. I wonder if we were at the same Mika Miko show. I saw them at the Austin's Children Museum and it was a dance party. The kids were going nuts.
