Superman Returns

Sucked.

I hadn't watched it until now because of what I feared it would be, and because no one was insisting I do.

It was exactly what I feared it would be.

I don't know if feminists had a field day with this movie, but they should have. Here is Lois Lane, one of the first truly empowered women in popular fiction, reduced to yet another teenage-minded ( Read more... )

it reminded me of every single superman movie. Fit in perfectly with that world

How can you SAY that? It had pieces of the old Superman movies (Such as how Luthor was written), but they were almost superfluous, artificially stuck in there to remind me that this was contiguous with the first four.

Lois Lane was a badass in the originals. There was NONE of that here.

Hrmm, I seem to recall that in the original superman movies Lois basically was there to get into trouble. I know in the comics she was more, but she was just annoying in the movies, always needing rescue.

Going to have to go back and check that, but it seems she was hostage more than heroine and in this one at least she tracked luthor down and stowed away on his boat before needing to be rescued.

Okay, fair point. She does get into trouble a lot. I suppose the difference is that the old Lois Lane knows what she wants, where as this one is so "Um, eeh, uh, I just can't make up my mind!"
