Sounds like what you need is a collar so high-profile that the police don't dare leave you unpromoted afterward. After that, you wouldn't have to worry - if anyone I've met could serve in a 'consulting detective' for the length of, say, a maternity leave, it'd be you, Shirogane.

Yes, that would be preferable.. I understand I do not fit the norm of most detectives in my field. However normal protocol still applies for female workers within the station.

Well. If you can spare me some time over the next few weeks, there's no-one I'd rather have as arresting officer on my current case.

Oh! Naturally I would be willing to help you in whatever capacity I am able, but I'm not sure I could give you a definite answer to such an offer at this time.

You have a while to think about it. It might be nice to pass down the family profession.

Yes.. I just find it frustrating at time this is automatically expected of me based on my gender.

Yeah, it would be. But in the end, you make those decisions, you have that to comfort you.

What? Are we paying attention to those walls these days?

How do you know that I'm not the one?

Wow.... babies, huh? You guys are already thinking about one? That's kinda.... wow.

Y'know, that caped crusader does kind of have a point. As a consulting detective you'd be free from that kind of favouritism... Be less dangerous, too.

Well, yeah, but that was then and this is now? Generally when people start a family their priorities change; maybe you might find that you want the job with flexible hours and reasonable security.
