Summary: Shepard mulls over the conductor's words while having a drink at the dining cart's bar.
Jane Shepard sat on a stool inside the dining cart, her arms crossed over the edge of the bar, hand curled around the handle of a mug filled with an amber liquid; with no bartender present, she was forced to retrieve the beverage from the tap herself. Fortunately, the tap hadn't changed much over the lifetime of humanity, and she had little difficulty filling up the mug with something stronger than the water she'd been taking with her meals.
She'd been keeping a journal for the past few days, logging details of the day's daily events and people alike, using it to keep track of the days that had gone by since she had vanished from her room onboard the SSV Normandy.
Her anxiety might have been quelled had she known what her purpose was on-board the train, what mission she would have to fulfill before she'd finally be granted leave. But as she had recently learned, the conductor was every bit as secretive as her reputation implied.
"Find out for myself," she murmurs to herself, remembering the words offered by the conductor a few days before. She frowns, eyebrows furrowing, then stares down, gaze intense at her drink. She can't think of one purpose worth the risk of taking her away from the Normandy.
And that, she finds, is even more frustrating than not knowing the reason itself.
