Raising her hand timidly, Tohru was the first to speak. "E-excuse me, headmistress...I have something to ask..."

At least this girl was wearing her uniform. But Matron still figured she was some little tart who was more interested in boys and monkey business than in her own education. "Yes, dearie?"

"I was wondering...if one of us needed to retrieve something from the train...like a prized possession or something to eat even, would we able to with your permission?" She hoped the answer would be a 'yes' so badly.

She let out a mocking laugh, directing her visage straight at Tohru. "No. You cannot. Next question?"

"Excuse me, ma'am!" Tails, present in the audience due to the fact that he was apparently a student here now, raised his hand like a good boy to get the lady's attention.

Snarling at the sight of him, she pressed both her hands against the podium. "ARGH! ...ANIMAL..." As much as she tried, she could hardly contain her contempt for the little fox. Matron didn't like non-human creatures, most assumed she was prejudiced against them. This resentment especially surfaced when she was forced to hire one recently at the school. "...What do you want?!"

He was a little intimidated by her response now. Did she not like him for some odd reason? In any case, he wanted to ask a question.

"How long is the program here? I'd like to keep my schedule right so I know when I can get expect to get back to my other work."

"It's as long as it has to be, rodent." She whispered the last part, but it was still audible to people in the front row. "Each of you are to stay here until the twelfth of June, no exceptions."

Buguese tried his best not to look as furious as he was. Technically, he was wearing his uniform. If anyone had something to say at his additions to it, well, he'd just have to kill them. But first, he had more pressing matters.

"Human, as you can see, I am clearly not a child, and I haven't been one for a long time. There is no reason I belong here."

Another odd creature, more hideous than the 'cute' one from before. Angrily, she crossed her arms and made her hatred more apparent. "You will do as you are told." She decided to avoid a confrontation with the...demon or whatever he was...and added some more to appease him. "We must follow through with any roster we are given. It is a South Richmund tradition to do so without question."

Seeing how she responded with anger, Buguese decided not to hold back, and do the same.

"I am not from here, so your traditions mean nothing to me!"

"If you have a problem with the listing, take it up with the Valkyrie Express staff." Matron replied just as crossly. "My job is to provide an education to the ones who are brought to this school."

Watching the headmistresses reactions to the other students, Dib could already tell that she wasn't going to be all sunshines and light. Actually, no, scratch that. She probably was when compared to Ms. Bitters. But then most people were.

Raising his hand and trying not to catch sight of his arm, lest he be reminded that he wasn't, in fact, wearing his favorite trench coat, he decided to ask the question he had been curious about since first hearing of the classes. "Um, hey, excuse me, head mistress? But what, exactly, would we be learning in occult studies?"

At least he wasn't a creature of some sort. ...Or was he? With a head that big, who knew? Still, she gave him the benefit of the doubt and proceeded with some respect.

"Occult studies is a course in which Edogawa-sensei teaches the students about various cultures' mythological history and of their mythical deities. I'm not sure of the exact curriculum as I am not in charge of overseeing it."

Dib did not bother to hide his disappointment at the answer. He had been hoping it referred to something more paranormal or supernatural than mythological.

Not that he had anything against mythology. It was just that he had been sincerely excited about the prospect of taking a class about the subject he loved the most. "Oh, okay then," he said in a fairly neutral tone. "...Thanks."

Kanji sat in the auditorium, somewhat oblivious to the ramblings of the headmistress and guilty as charged of not wearing the boarding school uniform he had been given. However, the mention of the uniforms did make it into his ear.

"...The hell? I actually gotta put the thing on startin' tomorrow?" He more or less opened his mouth without thinking, and thus was not quite whispering his words.

Looking up from what she had been doing, she scanned the room for the source of that remark. "Who said that? Speak up now." She muttered something soon after, "I dare you to."

Surprised that the headmistress responded to what he said, he became nervous and quickly contemplated what he ought to do next.

"Uh, wait, you mean me?" He asked, in order to confirm if it was actually him she was responding to.

"You're not very bright, are you?" Glaring at him, she continued on. "Stand up, you. Tell me your name."
