Its time to Operate

So I had my last day of class on Friday. I got 2 hours of sleep the night before. I stayed up all night editing my final film for the class because we were watching them that day. There were some good movies. Now to my story. Everyone loved mine. They said it looked amazing, and the editing was just outstanding. After we watched it my teachers ( Read more... )

You always vote for yourself, swanso January 25 2005, 14:14:57 UTC
Ok, actually I probably would have done the same thing. While I guess you could consider a vote for yourself as having appreciation for your own work, I think a thumbs up for someone else is a better way to go, a better way to win or loose, and at least you didn't loose by much, so if you figure his movie was great, your's must be up there. So does that mean you could have cast two votes for yourself? Seems like someone has to vote for other people other wise everyone would be tied.

I love the "There were some good movies. Now to my story." Now to my story. There were other people, but this is about me ;-)

You know I still have yet to see the final version of any of your films.

Some of those rules seem strange, especially no on screen dialog, what's up with that?

As for the others, guess it seems like more of a challenge and a more level of a playing field.

Eric soon you will see final versions of my films. The rules for those columbia things are stupid. They techincally want to see people be able to transfer their films back from the negative to a final film print. but thats just not necessary in this day in age. Its shot on film and then edited digitally.

Where did you hear about Y and V years? A friend of mine made that. It's a small world. I wish i could of gone.

Well back in my day, not really, but.. swanso January 27 2005, 10:48:06 UTC
I can see where you are coming from, and how it isn't necessary to go back and transfer film back from the negative to a final film print, but it hasn't been that long ago where that was how it worked, and I can also see the value in doing it that way. Just because something is out dated doesn't mean it isn't valuable to learn, but at the same time you shouldn't sacrifice your vision for it. There are a lot more people these days that are keeping everything all digital, but there are still those that are fighting to hang out to as much of the actual 'film' aspec as possible. There were even companies that would take your digital footage and give it a film look, but even that can be done by half of the home computers out there (I hope that's more of an exaguration that truth ( ... )
