Worship. An A4 doing what an A4 was built for!

I do always feel a bit sorry for Mallard in its splendour in the NRM. Surely it should be allowed out to run up and down rails every now and again!

(And yes, I know it's a bit more complicated than that :) I still feel sorry for it, though.)

Although I always happily call ships 'she', I've never got the hang of it with locos. Must be too much Thomas the Tank at an impressionable age, giving me the idea that most engines are boys :)

York again in November then NRM Shildon in February, so two more chances.
To kotturinn - Fairings? I like to see the wheels go round but the extra streamlining has its attraction. Incidentally, when Sir Nigel was hauling a rake of half a dozen or so, including NELPG's lunch trip, from Grosmont to Pickering towards the end of winter, a sudden hailstorm made the rails so slippery we needed a banker to get going again. Apparently, a loco with larger wheels would have had no problem.
And yes, Venta's Mum is an anorak.

Yes, a friend who's a TTI on the NYMR told me today it wasn't unusual to need a push. I know uitlander via venta's blog and enjoy her comments. I don't write my own posts very often, generally when I'm in grumpy old woman mode.
