When our GP retired about two years ago, no one told us. In the bad old days, when his predecessor retired, we got a letter not only telling us he was going but the name of the new member of the practice to whom we would be assigned. You should write to the surgery and tell them :) I bet they get masses of complaints all the time, they'd probably be delighted to hear from someone who liked the service.

Now you mention it, my GP comes out and gets me in person, though I'd assumed that was because my surgery is too small and homemade to have a loudspeaker system. I think I usually get called Miss by NHS persons, too. Maybe there's been a new directive, or something...

I did make appoint of telling the receptionist what a good impression the "new boy"! had made. She seemed pleased to be told.
