Damn, that is nice coloring. Got any tips on it? I've been trying to achieve that particular kind--all browns and tans and oranges--for a WHILE with no success.
I use Photoshop, and I like a few "soft light" and "colour burn" layers of light yellow or orange (or pale pink) set at a very low opacity, usually between 5-10%, to bring out those tones. I also use curves and/or selective colour, especially to take out any excess red (it's best to take it out of the shadows) or yellow.
Ooooh. Thank you, I think that will be helpful! I'm complete shit at reverse engineering, so to speak, and I'm still clueless when it comes to curves, but I'll give it my best shot. :) Another question that might sound weird--do you get the colors for the layers from the image itself, or the custom color slider?
I am too! I tend to go through periods where I'll do a lot of experimenting and then try to duplicate anything I did which I liked, but I'm awful at trying to replicate anything I've seen someone else do. I use the colour slider to choose colours for the layers.
