Ryohei didn't start out wanting to be a professional boxer -- he was actually quite a deliquent when he was about thirteen, and was in school gangs and often got into fights. One night, he joined a couple of friends barhopping and accidentally pissed a man off, bumping into him when he was napping at the counter. This man beat him up extremely soundly, forever straightening Ryohei out and delivering him to the extreme salvation that was boxing. Ryohei still does not know who this man is up until now, but he does remember the speech impediment (--ssu).
From then on, Ryohei wanted to be a pro-boxer, so as soon as he graduated from high school, the first thing he did was apply in a pro-boxing gym. He debuted when he was nineteen, and has since been winning consistently against his peers. He recently won the Japanese lightweight championship, so he can take it a little easier for a few months until someone challenges him for his title.
Despite his boxing aspirations, Ryohei is adamant about keeping his job as the delivery boy for Vongole (every morning before lunch, Mondays to Saturdays!). This has sometimes been a source of frustration for his coach, who needs to control Ryohei's life 24/7 before matches, but Ryohei refuses to give up the job. His parents once told him that boxing, even if Ryohei thinks it's the best thing since dinosaurs, isn't a constant source of income and that he needs something to fall back on, like being a delivery boy or something. Ryohei being Ryohei, he took this suggestion to heart and refuses to let go of his foolproof Plan B until now. People assume that this Plan B is for Ryohei to live off being a delivery boy forever.
Ryohei is a simple man with the dedication of a horse, and is the kind of person who lives life to its extreme fullest. Some people think he's just an idiot, but they can't deny that he does seem pretty damn happy with his life.
His family is made up of his parents and his beloved sister, Kyoko. He has a few friends, a lot of buddies in the boxing gym he goes to, and is generally nice to everyone he meets. Despite his loud, boisterous nature, it's very easy for people to take to him.
