Rogue had spotted Wolverine in the Compound, and when she hadn't seen him on the main floor had assumed he'd gone to the basement and that she'd catch him on his way out. She'd gone to peruse the bookshelf, to try and take her mind off of everything, but of course the island being what it was she found herself faced with a surreal and jarring issue of the ongoing saga of her life back home.
The cover wasn't even the worst part. She didn't read it, not carefully- her thoughts were too jumbled for her to absorb it- but she sure as hell read enough.
She was standing at the top of the stairs waiting for him, eyes bright and arms folded tightly beneath her chest.
"Nope," I say, registering the contents of the picture before I even think about what I'm looking at, exactly, and what it means.
It dawns pretty quickly, though. That's a comic book. With us on it.
Now, I'm aware they've made this sort of thing about the Fantastic Four and such, back home. The guys with publicity, the ones people like. But sure as hell not us, and none of the X-Men'd tell a publisher about @#$% like Golgotha.
So it's something else altogether. "You wanna explain that to me?" I flick the side of comic.
