π is good as a movie because of the effective atmosphere, because the director managed to get his vision across. Script-wise i don't consider it more than mediocre myself, but it is visually and acoustically so mesmerizing that I overall like it. The script is on no terms brilliant, but it has a powerful idea behind it, and that's what, combined with the above makes it a memorable film.

Irreversible is a memorable film for me but it sucks. Pi does not suck, but it can work as a trap; liking it for its aestheticism can lead you to believe its context. It's a movie that's supposedly "intellectual" so the judging its intellect has a lot to do with judging its overall quality.

pi does not suck, the idea behind it is quite clever but the plot has holes and kindof sucks.
