I never seem to get the calls I need to.

I check my messages this evening on a whim.

Apparently I missed a call today from the unemployment office. It looks like my former employer is trying to fight me getting unemployment.

I get to call the Unemployment people tomorrow and try to prove they should give me the money. I don't know what's going to happen now.

Awesome. Nearly time to

Do you need a sworn statement? Do you have April's email address?

I don't have her contact info, no. I don't know what I'll need. But I'll find out tomorrow.

Tangentially- There's another position open with my group. The person who does a lot of the resume screening suggests you resubmit and tweak your resume so that tech support qualifications stand out a bit more. The hiring timeline is within a month, so turnaround one way or another will be quick.

As soon as I have my head on a little better, I'll try and do that.

If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. I personally haven't done ALL that much employment law stuff, but I can figure things out. Sometimes a scolding letter from a lawyer just helps to get people to stop being jerks.

Thank you very much. I'll find out more when I call back the unemployment office tomorrow.

Don't sweat it too much, although it will delay the initial unemployment check (which will be retroactive).

I had an employer fire me in violation of their own employee policies, then challenge my unemployment claim. They lost, needless to say.

The boss almost never wins. I always denied unemployement to staff that I fired, and I always lost. I even went out of my way with one guy, a Telerama loser that Melea had hired, he was just TOO DUMB to do the job. I went thru re-training, testing, etc., and proved that he was too dumb to do his job and I fired him -- he still got unemployment. So chin up, it's a normal bump in the road...
