[Yuzu was inside the store, picking up groceries while distracting herself from the post-experiment apologies she needs to make. Now she's stumbling outside, coughing from the smoke and looking rather frazzled. She pulled off her bandanna to cover her mouth during the escape, and heat doesn't help her hair.

Demons trying to kill her again. Just what she doesn't need.]

[Ah! Time for some fun. He won't try to hit her, but he'll make it convincing enough that he's trying. A pair of eye lasers will hit a few feet away from her.]

[That's a giant demon, all right. The familiar anxiety and fear every time they fought a battle last summer is reemerging. But she's gotten braver since her first bout with a demon, brave enough to at least shout back at him while she backs away from the lasers.]

What is your problem?!

[Okay, that's not cool. Derek will actually stand up now, making his way to the fight at a run. Once he's close enough, he'll draw his gun and shoot Aku, aiming for the eyes.

He's usually a dead shot (he has to be, in his line of work). But Aku is pretty tall...and it's a 9mm gun. Still...you don't do that to a 'defenseless' girl.]

Aku > Yuzu > Derek

[Aku raises a finger to his chin, stroking his beard in an overly dramatic fashion as he seems to consider this.]

Boredom. [That's when the shooting starts, just as Aku is about to toast Yuzu up a bit. He turns in annoyance at Derek and his little gun.]

"Boredom" isn't --

[Before she can shout at him more, she hears the gunshot. This does nothing to help her mental state. Turning over her shoulder, she spots the man with a pistol aimed at Aku's head.]

Are you crazy? A gun won't do anything!

[Instinctively, her hand slips into her bag, clasping over the pink COMP stored there... but the batteries are still dead. Right now, it's a useless piece of plastic, without even the Harmonizer's protection. A direct hit from the demon's magic would be the end of her and whoever that guy is, too.

She'd promised herself she'd stop running... but this is way over her head.]

Worry about you.

[Derek is smiling right now. It's not a nice smile. But he does put the gun away...only to draw his sword instead. And he'll charge in on Aku, aiming for an ankle...or whatever passes for one.

...Did anyone mention vampire hunters on Derek's world tended towards the crazy side?]

[Aku makes a show of just rolling his eyes. This is just sad. He'll go to the trouble of shape shifting an actual leg and then try to step on Derek with it.]

[Yuzu freezes to watch this for a minute... but there's literally nothing she can do to help. With that, she turns to run, hoping the crazy guy doesn't get killed for his reckless behavior.]

['Crazy Guy' notes that she does indeed run for it, which is what he was hoping for. Good.

Of course, getting his own ass out of this will likely be a problem, but hey. Civilian saved; all is good.

He hears (and smells) the rush of air coming from on high and drops and rolls out of the way. It's probably too much to hope for, but he'll make a stab, literally, at the side of the 'foot' when it impacts the ground.]

[If Derek doesn't pull the sword out fast enough, it will just get absorbed inside of Aku. In the meantime, Aku is going to stomp him with his other feet. All three other feet. It never hurts to have extras.]

[And Yuzu is out of the area now, so continue without her. She'll likely complain about the whole situation on the journals later.]

[<3 to Yuzu. You've made Derek a happy, if possibly squished, man.

As for Derek, as soon as he feels the slight tug at the sword, he'll yank it out in order to keep it, sending him rolling away from the first foot and onto the next. He'll scramble up the second foot and try to time jumping off of it when the third foot tries to smash him. If Aku doesn't stop himself in time, that is. Hey, it might work...maybe...not?]

[Aku is not nearly that coordinated. Not that it will do Derek much good. Aku is just going to fall forward towards Derek... with several more feet emerging all over his abdomen. Time to do this centipede style.]

[Well, hell, just when exactly did he wind up back on the tire course at Fort Benning? Gah.

Derek will do his best to weave between the stomping feet, although he's sure to have several very close calls while he tries to time each dive or roll with whatever Aku is doing. Several times he'll just squeak by and even bounce off a leg or two, and he'll definitely be bruised and knocked around and probably a bit dizzy by the time the stomping is done.]

[After moving past, Aku will turn back around to admire his handiwork. If it looks like Derek plans to attack again, Aku will attempt to run him over.]
