Snapshot - Week 3

This is for my grandmother; my personal saviour. All I have left are snapshots and even they are few. These were our best times together, summers at the trailer, where I had her all to myself for two months out of the year. Rest in Peace Mormor, I love you.

Feeble sand castles mourn
half-broken where hours past
Kings and Queens ruled their
lands. ...
The old boat sits lonely,
as its captains yawn goodbye
to the day, ...
are the things never to
be forgotten, even more
than first kisses. ...
Past the grave her kindness
echoes in the voices of
that place.

These lines are so heartwrenchingly beautiful. Thank you for having the courage to share something so personal. This brought tears to my eyes. If I may be so bold, I would venture to say that your grandmother would be proud to be honored with such a loving tribute. Gorgeous beyond my capabilities to tell you because it has love to make it so.

Aww, I didn't mean to make you cry, even though I did as I wrote it. I miss her so much. She'll have been gone for 25 years this October, yet I remember those summers back in the 70s like they happened yesterday. That's good, because there really are no snapshots, if they exist then I don't know where they are.

I'm not sure my grandmother would be proud, I'm not sure pride is something that she was capable of - she really was the embodiment of unconditional love. When you have that, nothing else matters. She was a simple little Danish woman who played the piano so beautifully it could make you cry, tended her flowers, and took care of her little dog and my grandfather - her antithesis. At least until she died, then we became friends - we were both missing the person we loved most in the world and finally found common ground.

Anyhow, I'm glad you liked it. I've never made it past week 3, maybe my guardian angel can help me with that. :-)

Well constructed, very touching. It is obvious where your heart lies. :-)

Thank you. I don't normally post poetry either, but the prompt really inspired this one.
