Okay..here's the thing. Lately I've been listening to japanese songs other than Arashi's. Not that I've changed my fandom..But I really love jballad especially those songs sang by female singers..Here are some of the songs I've discovered lately and really lovin' it..

Hi!
I started liking J-pop because of Koda Kumi. I really love some of her ballads like Moon Crying, Aisho and Ai no Uta. Other awesome ballads like MISIA's Everything, Bonnie Pink's Last Kiss, Ikimonogakari's Arigatou and Aoyama Thelma's (feat Soulja) Soba ni iru ne. Also there are insert songs from Arashi's doramas that are great like Utada Hikaru's Flavor of Life, Otsuka Ai's Planetarium, aiko's Kiss/Hug and YUI's Please stay with me. I often listen to those too :)

Koda Kumi..never heard of her songs before.will give it a try after this.And you're right about the insert songs.they are really great.planetarium, and flavor of life have been in my playlist for as long as I can remember.And thanks for recommending Yui's..never watch natsuniji, so I've no idea abt this song.it's really great..

If you're looking for Japanese female singers, Utada Hikaru is definitely on the list. I personally luv her songs like "Flavor of Life", "Beautiful World"(acoustic version), "First Love".

From Angela Aki, I really like "Home".

Oh and other singers I find really good are:
- Karasawa Miho (especially "Way to Love")
- YUI (try "Please stay with me")
- Ayaka (great voice, try "Okaeri")
- Shibasaki Kou
- Ai Otsuka (try her slow songs like "Planetarium", "Kinkyo Hanabi", "Momo no Hanabira")

Utada Hikaru is a must.her voice and songs are wonderful..I've heard Home and it's really nice.Thanks for your help.I've familiar with YUI and Ai Otsuka's songs..And definitely will give others a try (^_^)

me too!!! i've listen to nishino kana's "aitakute aitakute" and "kimitte" and i love both songs...

i would suggest
-ikimonogakari - arigatou, yell, nostalgia
-aiko - kabuto mushi and mukai awase (though the later is a bit pop-ish)
-hirahara ayaka -ashita (yasashii jikan theme song)
-kimura kaela - buterfly
-shibata jun - yume

and like everyone else has pointed out utada hikaru's "flavor of life" and "prisoner of love" and otsuka ai's "planeterium"...
as for male singers lately i got addicted to fukuyama masaharu's "hotaru" and greeeen's "kiseki" (though the later is kinda pop-ish, the lyrics are sooo beautiful)

ikimonogakari - is this a band??
aiko - knew her through himitsu..
hirahara ayaka - never knew her before
kimura kaela - butterfly is really sweet.but her voice is not so good and even off key during live

I didn't listen too much to j-singers, but lately I really like Otsuka Ai. I'm not into ballads, but I second the others: Planetarium was one of the best. I also like Kuroge Wagyuu Joshio Tan Yaki 680 Yen, at first it sounds funny but later I'm enjoying it so much.
Some Aqua Timez's ballads also worth to try!

Talking abt other JE's band, hev you ever listened T&T's Sotsugyou~Sayonara wa Ashita no Tame ni~?
Kinki Kids ballads also not to be missed, ne...:)

Ah,i love Nishino Kana Aitakute aitakute~ :DD

YUI!! Definitely YUI!! If Arashi is my main fandom, YUI is like my side-fandom. (Okay, i got other side-fandom as well) :P
But rather than ballad song like Please stay with me, Tokyo, To mother, i like her upbeat song more, like Tomorrow's way, Its all too much and CHE.R.RY. Or try Love & truth, which is quite different genre, more emosional and dark feeling.

And my latest side-fandom is Matsushita Yuya. *points to icon*

I love YUI too.her songs are nice.really worth to listen..Thank you for recommending..i really need to find my side-fandom before I got stucked in arashi's forever.but actually I do not mind if I do..
