well crap - I found out today that my grandfather died last night - it's been a long time since I've seen him; he's lived in germany and then florida for a long time. A toast to a long-life... over the last few years my family tree has lost a few branches, too. I always try to reflect on the things they contributed to my life, rather than focusing on their absence moving forward.

A quiet place with a good book is some seriously great advice... I still have piles of books that my grandparents bought for me when I was a kid. I'm grateful that at least a couple of them are still around to see me finally finishing my undergrad degree in a few months (knock wood)...

I didn't know he had remarried crazy grandma. Wow. I guess he was lonely in his final years?

yea, he had broken up with his long-time girlfriend, and my mom thinks that crazygrandmother was always the woman of his dreams, so he went back to her. there is also the theory that crazygrandmother was running out of money, and he still had some, so he got roped back in. sheesh, my grandparent's life is more dramatic than mine!

This was a very warm entry. Made me think about the same kind of quiet moments I spent with my grandparents.

I'm good! pretty busy with work, you? My grandfather too died about a month ago with a similar family situation... My only regret is I wish I could have got to know him better... I hope you're felling better!

I'm actually doing pretty good, work has been really busy, but I'm heading to mexico for a week tomorrow, so that will make up for everything. Sorry to hear about your granddad - hope you're not too bummed out about it.
