PSA: If what you are doing is supported by half the American people, and has the backing of society's culture-making institutions, then it cannot properly be defined as courageous.

I think walking into a burning building to save people trapped there would be both supported and admired by almost everyone and still courageous.

For sure. I was thinking more along the lines of running your mouth or some other symbolic gesture to support a cause or political stance. Putting your health and physical safety on the line is something else entirely.
