Inauguration Thoughts

I happened to wander into Columbia's main campus around 11:30 am, after I left the 8th graders to their own assembly back at the school where I student teach.  In front of the library they had set up a Jumbotron and were handing out free hot chocolate.

I feel like there should have been a more urgent call to action for people to unify, to get involved, to keep working, because there is so much to be done. He needed an "Ask not what your country can do for you" that was updated to fit this day and age, but there was nothing there like that really.

my initial thoughts and i may come back for more: i totally thought he said that we as a nation really need to buck up and take things into our own hands. this particular part of the speech is what i heard:

"In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less ( ... )
