Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy? Rain is slender and willowy, deceptively delicate looking.
2. How old is she? Rain is approximately 129 years old.
3. Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well or does she slouch? Rain slouches, but does so gracefully.
4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Rain is in perfect health, no physical disabilities.
5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? Graceful and fluid, rarely tense.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror? Rain isn't too fond of her looks, by faerie standards she's quite plain. To humans, however, she's exceptionally lovely, a pale and ethereal beauty.
7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? Very light, very fair, and relatively flawless.
8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style. Golden blonde and straight, very soft but medium thickness.
9. What color are her eyes? Bright, clear blue.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? She has a mystical tattoo of a sea serpent running the length of her spine. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not...because it tends to come to life from time to time.
11. What are her chief tension centers? Back and neck, but only if she's working hard or stressed out.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit? VERY casual. She's not into formalwear or looking classy...or being dressed, for that matter. She owns a lot of swimsuits and loose, comfortable clothing that's easy to shed for a swim.
13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them? They're all loose, but she's always comfortable.
14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences? Rain makes her living mostly through playing the stock market, so she really doesn't work. She dresses the same all the time. She will, however, dress up if she's at court.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? Commando. She'd go starkers all the time if she could.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? Soft, a little nasal, and she snorts when she laughs.
2. How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate? Crisp, fast, concise. Her words flow easily.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? No real accent, but could pass for British if she had to?...
4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency? English, French, and Elvish.
5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations? Nope, but she loves to speak in French to confuse people.
6. Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words? Her mouth gets her into trouble, so she tries, TRIES to think before she speaks.
7. Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? She's...Rain. That's about all I can say.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart? Smarter than she acts. Being a Water faerie, Rain's very fluid and adaptable, and her mind can dance from one thing to another like lightning. She's very bright.
2. Does she think on her feet, or does she need time to deliberate? Thinks on her feet.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? Again, very ADD, her mind flits about easily. It's hard for her to focus unless she's really dedicated to what she's doing, so her thoughts can be very disjointed.
4. What kind of education has the character had? Formal education in Faerie, tutors and teachers in scholastics and a formal education in using her magic.
5. What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about? All Water magick, investing, and among her fellow faerie godmothers, popular culture.
6. Is she an introvert or an extrovert? Mmmm...I'd have to say extrovert.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? Laid back, but very mercurial. Her mood is very easily influenced, and she's rarely too uptight.
8. How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? Eager, enthusiastic. Like a river, she always loves to find a new outlet to flow into.
9. Is she more likely to act, or to react? Either/or, depending on the situation.
10. Which is her default: fight or flight? Fight.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does she appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? Her sense of humor is as odd as she is. What she finds funny one day, she might not the next.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does she deal with them? By human standards? Serious ADHD.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person? The moment her surrogate brother rejected her sexually. Oddly, it curbed her sexual appetites when she realized there were people out there that could and would say no to her...and that she actually preferred to keep Jedediah just as a brother.
14. What does she fear? Fire. It's her natural opposite, plus she had a bad experience with it as a child.
15. What are her hopes or aspirations? To do right by her mother and Rory, to show she's capable enough to nurture a young girl and send her into the world. A sense of responsibility is alien to Rain, she's finding she enjoys the structure.
16. What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her? That she secretly wishes she'd been born human.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with her parents. Rain has a loving relationship with both her parents, if tempestuous because they both belong to different courts and she has declared no allegiance to either.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? One adopted brother, Jed Layton. She had a crush on him as a child, but after being rejected theirs became the typical petty, argumentative but ultimately enriching sibling relationship.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand? Nope, none directly, anyway.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them? Rain's very good friends with Rory and her other two faerie godmothers...she's closer to Rory, though, who's more like her in temperament, age-wise.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? Not sure yet, we'll have to see. Maybe Rory, a bit?
6. Does she have other close friends? Not really.
7. Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people? She has trouble getting along with people, as distracted and temperamental as she can be.
8. Which does she consider more important: family or friends? Family.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once? Rain's single, and like most fey has had a long string of lovers...unlike other fey, however, her list of conquests is shorter than most.
10. Is she currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? Nope.
11. Who was her first crush? Who is her latest? First was Jed. Hasn't really been one since.
12. What does she look for in a romantic partner? Someone that can keep up with her, or who at least wants to.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does she relate to them? If no, does she want any? No kids, though Rory is her charge at the moment, and taking care of her is something Rain takes seriously.
14. Does she have any rivals or enemies? Jed, but not really. Still...
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does she fall on the Kinsey scale? Like the majority of fey, Rain's bisexual. She's a pretty solid 3 on the Kinsey scale.
16. How does she feel about sex? How important is it to her? Sex is everything to a faerie. Rain loves it, but she's pickier about it than most of her kind.
17. What are her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits? Usual for the sidhe: BDSM, anything relating to pain. Rain also loves to have sex in the water, specifically the ocean.
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does she fit type?Rain was born in the realms of Faerie, so she doesn't know her exact birthday in this realm. Makes it hard to say. Odds are she'll choose a b-day at some point, then we'll see. :P
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in her life? She's spiritual, but not overly religious. Fey see themselves as gods more than anything, but she understands spirituality and respects it.
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? Yes. Protect your family, try to do the right thing...don't piss off Jed. That's about it.
4. How does she regard beliefs that differ from hers? Is she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? Rain is greatly comforted by the notion of higher power, so she's curious about all faiths in an effort to better understand the notion of God.
5. What prejudices does she hold? Are they irrational or does she have a good reason for them? Not really. She's very tolerant, and although flighty, very forgiving of others foibles.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is she rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? Rain's filthy stinking rich. Seeing the future helps in investment, and she's very good at it.
2. What is her social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected her? In the human realm? She's an average gal. In her world, she's a rogue faerie, and by default a subject of the court of Man.
3. Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others? Rain lives with Rory and her other two godmothers.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does she spend her money on? She really doesn't, at least not on herself. Moneymaking's a necessity, sure, but it's also a game for her. She figures she has to do something with it, so she buys shiny things for people.
5. What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else? Rain invests, and she's damn good at it. She's pretty shameless about using her gift to make money, but she doesn't do it to ill effect. It's her job, she acquires her wealth modestly and quietly.
6. What are her interests or hobbies? How does she spend her free time? Studying, exploring the human realm. She loves Detroit, so she's been going to bug Jed a lot, maybe hit him up to hire Rory when she's ready for a job.
7. What are her eating habits? Does she skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? She eats. She's a pescatarian more by predilection than choice.
