Sounds to me like you're young enough, and not ready to commit. If you make a false commitment today, I predict that you'll regret it and never be quite sure.
So the tough conversation... long distance friendships just aren't the same as being with someone (right now my partner is thousands of miles away and will be for another 2 months! aieeee) but maybe that's what you need to talk ato your boy about (he's probably dealing with it too) And maybe sooner than later you can retain a friendship that could still blossom more if it's the right one.
