Before I’m going to tell you all about what’s been keeping me away from LJ for so long:

Thank you, my lovely friends, for thinking of my bday!
Please don’t be mad with me, serendipity, secretsolitaire, pumagrrl, veritas03, demicus, fancypantsdylan, for not responding to your nice and warm bday-wishes sooner. I haven’t checked my inbox since what seems ages. Actually, I almost forgot my bday, four tiny noses ( Read more... )

So you did do something wonderful for your birthday! Being the ones to step up & say something on their behalf was a kind & decent thing to do; taking them in when nobody cared was above & beyond what many people would have done. I'm so proud of you & your husband for saving those bunnies! I think the abused bunnies will warm up to you when they realize they're loved & well cared for now. I hope Wuermchen fully recovers from his injuries very soon! What does Wuermchen mean?
Your portrait of Wuermchen is exquisite! What a lovely tribute. He's beautiful, & surrounded by what must surely be many of his favorite things. You, my friend, are a master of pastels! Seriously. ❤

Thank you demicus, for your encouraging reply. *hugs* I’m sure you understand why I’m replying late; still I’m staying with the bunnies in the barn each spare moment ( ... )

Sorry for the late reply! My mom's been sick & everything's a bit crazy around here.

Yes! I do think you were meant to help your bunnies. I think mommy bunny is probably thrilled to have been moved to a completely different environment!

Oh no! Is it true that it’s not appropriate to the species to keep bunnies separate? Uh oh. I had a white bunny (she came from a farm that raised them for food) & I never thought to get another one. I hope Moonbeam didn't have too bad a life as a single bunny. I loved her more than any other pet I ever had after she died. Funny how I miss her even now, 30+ years later. I never got another rabbit, she just couldn't be replaced.
I think Fleckchen & Blacky will make a lovely couple. ❤

I'm thrilled that Wuermchen is recovering, & I think his name is perfect! You're right about 'worm' sometimes being used to refer to babies/children in English too.

*hugs for you & your new babies*

Thank you, Leela, for your nice reply! I'm late replying, sorry for that, but you can imagine that these days I'm spending most of my time with the bunnies than in front of the computer.

Your compliment made me very, very happy. And btw., I've friended you back; having found a new friend who thinks alike makes me happy twice. ♥

Sweetie, I don't think you're mad at all, I think you have the most generous heart to take in these obviously abused rabbits, someone really should phone the animal welfare, perhaps a friend or neighbour, so that hubby can keep his job, hell I'd even do it for you :)

The picture is lovely and I hope they all prosper under your loving care.

As for your birthday, just hope you had a lovely day and I'm always scanning the drarry art pages so not to miss one of yours *hugs* - Sarah

*Squishes you senseless* ♥ ♥ ♥
This had to come first for your wonderful reply! And now follows my apology for not replying sooner. But I guess you understand why I'm not that often online these days...

The babies are still ok, and Wuermchen is recovering. It's amazing how much energy there is in such little creatures; their will to survive is enormous.

As for Drarry-pics, *coughs*, well, at the moment I just don't manage to do anything. But, thinking about it, wouldn't it be cute to have a pic of Draco holding a tiny bunny? Hrm....
*squishing you tight* again, this time for liking my pics.

I'm so proud of you and hubby especially hubby for setting the ball rolling to rescue to defenceless animals. I don't know how he can stand to work with such callous people.

And yes, animal welfare need to be called. Does the park have a board of directors? I wonder why none of the 'petters' complained; they must have noticed the state of them when letting their kids go near them.

Happy belated birthday and good luck with your charges. Pics when you can please.

Thank you so much for your empathetic reply, lusi! ♥
That I’m late replying you’ll understand, I’m sure. You can imagine that I’m spending each spare moment with the little noses instead of the computer.

It’s amazing that you say that. Actually, he can’t stand it at all. He has nightmares each night, if he manages to sleep at all. He had countless arguments regarding the care of the animals, won one argument in favour of one of the donkeys with a sore hoof; the vet was called in. The last argument hubby lost with fatal consequences. He demanded extra care, in detail he wanted to be ordered to care for the animals each second day instead of twice a week. The boss decided that somebody else will care for the animals from now on, in fact the one who wasn’t able to manage the task before.

I wonder why none of the 'petters' complainedOh, they do! Hubby tells them to call in the animal welfare, but nobody reacts. You know what it’s like. People get enraged the moment they see ( ... )

If you're prepared for some flack you could now involve the media: newpapers, TV. We have a programme called Watchdog where viewers write in about businesses or traders who are doing things badly. Do you have anything like that? or the RSPCA?

I doubt hubby would change the boss's mind. That pattern of behaviour is too ingrained. Good luck and let me know what you decide. At least you both are doing the right thing.

Pics of the rabbits please.

Thank you so much for your understanding. Somehow I knew you would understand taking in abused rabbits. *hugs*

It's simply amazing to watch those tiny creatures fighting for their life; there's so much energy it's unbelievable.
