To answer one of your questions, yes, Rachel really IS (or was) pregnant. She gave birth late last year. The producers wrote Rachel's pregnancy into the storyline.
As for Carson, from what I've read it's supposed to be the 'real' Carson Beckett. How they're going to explain the fact that he died in 'Sunday' and has somehow come back remains to be seen.
Rodney has taken to calling John by his first name quite a bit over the course of this season -especially when stressed out.
Yeah, supposedly, they were going to make Rodney and Katie parents (WTF?) but then Rachel became pregnant in real life and they wrote it into her storyline. I think she had the baby a month or two ago and everything turned out fine. David Hewlett and Jason Momoa just became daddies too (and who knows on behind the scenes people. I swear, there's something in the water up in Vancouver, LOL).
That's why Teyla wasn't in eps like Trio or that one with John and Ronon on Earth and the one with mini-Adria. RL was already on maternity leave by that point.
TPTB have been saying this is to be the "real" Carson and not descended or AU Carson. Speculation is rampant that Michael somehow replaced Carson before Sunday. Who knows the truth. I guess we'll see next week. I'm still hopeful. :-)
