Sam 'was utterly alone' but not unguided. Guidance comes in this chapter when he does things for no clear reason: Like the bible says, the righteous shall live by his emunah - a word that combines faith and faithfulness, which are distinct in English. this is one reason why i love Sam so much~ he's just so brave and really one of the the great heroes of LotR.

PS: you're still planning to visit over here in February 2006?
Rumour has it that one of my most cherished musicians -Arjen Lucassen with his new band Stream of Passion - will be touring here from mid-February... would be nice, not? ;-)

I can't think of anything I'd rather do than inspire your muse - and you ain't even seen most of these notes yet!
