It would be wrong for a father not to notice a child in distress.

So Saetan moves out into the light, watching, not dispassionately, but quietly. His heart feels every one of Lucivar's sobs. But he doesn't wish to intrude if Lucivar still wants solitude.

During one of Lucivar's infrequent pauses, he sends a message along the Ebon Gray. Do you want company?

To anyone else, he would have said no, would have been furious to be found at all - but Saetan is the one person with whom he can share his distress at the painful memories that he grapples with now. And for other reasons as well. "F-father?" he says in a shaky voice, turning his head slowly, as if the motion pains him.

Before he's completed the motion, his father is at his side, all pretense at awkwardness gone. "Son, I'm here."
