Miranda is not so much brave as she is not too bright. Seeing Lucivar, she starts brightly towards him and opens her mouth to call to him. Even she can't help but see that something is wrong, however, and the call dies in her throat. She retreats several paces, not sure if he's seen her.

His head turns slowly and he sees her, a twinge of pain surfacing among the rage. He doesn't want her to see him like this, but at the same time, the urge to be sure she is safe is overpowering. He wars between the two desires and the overarching anger.

"--sir?" she says, very softly.

"--Miranda," he rumbles in a dangerous voice, not moving toward her but not moving away either, his wings spreading around him like a cape, almost defensively.

In situations worse than this, Armand has already proven he's not afraid. Well, he is, but not so afraid that he won't try to help.

Pale, but not flinching, he watches from a distance until he thinks Lucivar is turning toward him enough to see. "Lucivar!" he calls.

Lucivar's head snaps around in a flash with a half-snarl, then he recognizes Armand and the snarl fades, though not the wildness in his eyes. He doesn't move toward him. "Yes," he snaps, biting off the word viciously.

Armand knows better than to approach, but he's also pretty sure he's safe with the shield. "What's wrong?"

Lucivar's eyes flare dangerously and he shakes his head, trying to clear it. He knows enough to recognize that Armand is a friend, and he doesn't really want to drive anyone else away. "Damn - wizard," he snaps, taking short breaths through his nose.

She'd be an idiot if she didn't feel that fury, so Marian flies as quickly as she can to the woods, stopping and landing when she spots Lucivar.

She stalks up to him and grabs at his arm -- she's seen him worse than this, after all. "What in Hell's name is going on?"

He turns around and snarls at her. "What are you doing out here?"

"What are you doing out here?" Because Marian can be stubborn, too.

He snarls and turns around, pacing a few steps. "Trying not to kill anything bipedal," he says, his voice edged with frustration and just a little bit of worry.
