I'm a grouchy old git. I guess most of you knew this already. But now I have new proof. Jamie and I went to a Strokes concert on Tuesday night at UCSD, and it was intolerably loud. I'm the same way. I recently went to see Ben Folds in Des Moines, and the auditorium was FILLED with 12 year old girls who only knew "Brick," and it was hella annoying and made me pretty much hate humanity. Ben was great, but my concert experience overall was dissapointing. I think I'm definitely getting too old for this.

you need earplugs. i always use them for hardcore shows. =)

I agree with Pizza Pang about the earplugs. I'll also note, that while I haven't heard tons of the Eagles of Death Metal, the songs I have heard were enjoyable, and I think we both know how I feel about the Strokes (though my love has faded a bit, it's still there). So yeah, bring earplugs, then maybe you'll like it.

Also, seeing smaller bands in smaller venues is also a good choice for lower volume (sometimes, but not always).

Whatever you do, avoid the Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza.
