How did something that is completly not you show you who you are? When you're on Acid or Shrooms, you are not the same person as you are normally, so you are thinking things that would normally never be thought by yourself. There is something called memory, though, so these thoughts are transferred to your "normal" self, and you start to accept them as true.
True, I have never done any "real" drugs, and I don't think I ever will. The experience sounds enticing, but I don't want to be changed by something that doesn't exist. You find your passions though real experiences and normal brain functions. I am not adamantly against drugs, I am just against the idea that something that isn't real improves you, makes you more of a person than you were before.

Of course hallucinogens aren't perfect, you of course have to deal with the hallucinations and distractions, but is it not the same with meditation? It's very easy to get lost on the wrong path of meditation, and begin to focus on hallucinations and distracting paths.
