I have, actually--she thinks it's a good idea, but she's just left for college and needs to move into her dorm and stuff before she's ready to RP again--it might be a week or so.
Ah, okay. I've made good on my threat to draw manga!Beriani, but my new printer/scanner/copier/fax machine/strudel maker dealie is being difficult...X.x Expect to see it later.
I never realized your people are so concerned with joining that they care for so little of life outside. I'm surprised you managed to evade that...In fact I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous.
OOC--Whoa. I think she needed to get this off her chest!
You know--someone needs to bring Dr. Seuss's The Sneetches into this. :)
Ezri smiles wanly. If the only Trills you've ever met are myself, Jadzia, and Beriani, then you don't have a very accurate picture of our culture. The Initiates--otherwise wonderful, intelligent young men and women--are so obsessed with this simple ritual, that it seems they have no goals or dreams or desires outside of Joining. I don't know how many times I've had an Initiate say to me "When I'm joined, I will..." or "If I could just be Joined, then...." If they eventually do manage Joining, often they find they have no place to go, except to accept a political or religious position and burrow deeper into the system

WOW did she ever! Hee this is wicked stuff! Although I can't remember who the "Sneeches" are?
He listens in surprised silence not expecting to witness such anger and bitterness from the normally chipper Trill. But at the sametime he once again takes comfort in the small cracks in her normally perfect facade. He tries to in hiw own way offer some words of comfort but unwittingly ends up babbling in the process. So on your world title is everything, it doesn't sound much different then Cardassia. I grew up with the belief that power led to freedom. That control was everything depending how high your rank was showed how good you were as a person. I wished desperately to move up the ranks to become a great soldier to show my those I respected, that I was more then just a mindless thug. That I too deserved their respect, but its hard to move up the ranks when one is from a lower middle class house. Not to mention my rather loud mouth never got me anywhere either

Well, I was feeling angsty and mad and sarcastic yesterday, and that kind of came through in my RP.... Did you see this? Ezri ranting to Kasidy about the injustices of the system.... Whoo, I guess I was in a bad mood. Or Ezri was. Or we both were. O.o
Oh, the Sneetches--don't tell me you never read that story? It's this awesome, AWESOME little tale about these Sneetches; some of them have stars on their bellies, and some don't. The ones that have stars have all the fun, and refuse to fraternize with the ones who don't; while the ones that don't are depressed and all they want is to have stars on their bellies. Then this guy comes along with his Star-Making Machine, and...You totally have to read it. You can find it here. It was originally supposed to be satire about what's 'in style', or even about racism; but it TOTALLY fits in this situation.
Anyhow. On to RP....
Ezri's face softens; it seems as if Damar's words have helped to remind her that her race is far from the only one with problems and discrimination.Wow. I...that must

Did I mention that this really, really bothers me?
Actually, not yet, or at least not to me. I haven't met very many Trills who've criticized your people's focus on Joining, and actually hadn't thought much about it myself. Care to elaborate?
OOC: Wh00t! Computer access again! I'm going to try to catch up on most of my RP threads tonight. *waves to Beriani, too* Welcome me back to the land of the 'Net connected!
OOC--HIIIIIII! *tacklesqueeglomp* I miss you already! The house seems so empty without you.... *sniffs* *clings to you* Welcome back to the land of 'Net access!
Don't mind if Ezri rambles a bit--she's feeling very anti-Trill these days. :)
Ezri looks a bit bitter. Of course no one criticizes the focus on Joining. They're so brainwashed by the sodding--
Ezri stops, catching herself, and smiles apologetically at Kasidy. I'm sorry. I don't mean to talk your ear off like I did to poor Damar. It's just

Beriani, hearing the tail end of the conversation, decides to jump in.
Yeah, growing up on Earth certainly gives me a different perspective. Mum said that Joining wasn't really a big deal-the girls in our family haven't ever been ones for Joining anyway.
I can't believe your friend killed himself! Mum told me about-about things like this that happened at the Symbiosis Institute in her day, I just didn't know it was that bad...

You must be Lt. Edenost. How are you settling in to the Station?
Realizes she hasn't introduced herself.
I'm Kasidy Yates. Did you say you grew up on Earth?
