aw, i wish i'd known you had been there. z got us tickets for our anniversary/my birthday. when he told me he scored 2nd row tickets, my mind was blown and i didn't really believe it until bjork was five feet away from us. seriously, wow, was that only last night?
since i didn't get to see you guys at my bday party, i propose we go out to dinner one of these nights, eh? :)
Ah, cool! So you know what I'm talking about. ;) What an amazing show! That's so weird that we didn't see you guys, though...we were right there...
Hey, sorry about Friday. :( There was just too much going on that night. We're good for dinner anytime, though. :) Did you know that crepe place closed? Ah, the memories, hehe. When are you guys moving to your new place, btw?
we were just off center to the right of the stage (if you're looking at the stage). mmmmbjork! dinner sounds good. maybe tomorrow... hmm!
you been to that all you can eat sushi place sushi para 2? $16.99 ayce but it's really good.
i think our landlord will let us move in 5/31, so we'll be moving as much as we can then and then the little stuff in car trips. z has done a lot of packing already. i am attempting to start tonight! yow.
There were actually 18 songs (she sang "Cover Me" at the beginning, before the curtain went up).
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a terrific set, although I could have done with a little less "Vespertine" and maybe 1 or 2 more songs off "Volta" or "Medulla", but that's a minor quibble. Swapping out "Aurora" for "I See Who You Are" or "Who Is It" would have been swell.
Ah, right...I had "Cover Me" in my notes, but didn't list it since it was really little more than a sample; I almost didn't list "Venus as a Boy" for the same reason since she only played just over 2 minutes of that song. Anyway, thanks for pointing that out...
I was totally thrilled about all the Vespertine songs (!) since that's my favorite of her releases ("Aurora" is one of my all-time favorite Bjork songs.) There isn't much I'd have changed about the set, though I love "Heirloom" and maybe would have preferred it in place of "Oceania". I dunno. Splitting hairs. I'm not really a fan yet of "Earth Intruders", to be honest, though I do acknowledge it made for a great opener. From Medulla, "Who Is It" or "Triump of a Heart" also would have been great.
Well, I hear that "Declare Independence" might be the next single, with a video by Michael Gondry. I imagine that if there are remixes, Peaches may be asked to contribute one, as she opened for Bjork on several european dates during the "Greatest Hits" tour. I too get some of that Peaches/electro-punk vibe.
I suppose the only reason why I could have done with less "Vespertine" this time around is because I was able to see her show at the Civic Opera House in 2001, which was very Vespertine-centric. Looking over the setlist from that concert again, I realized that she didn't perform "Aurora" last time, which might explain it's inclusion.
I don't know if she's ever performed "Triumph Of A Heart" live, as she'd really need those beatbox performers to pull it off as intended. Still, the circus-band style "Oceania" was interesting take on the song, so maybe something akin to that would have worked for TOAH.
