Good seeing you the other day -- although admittedly we were in the midst of a self-promo blitz so I probably was a little out of it.
Thanks for the reviews -- most of the first set I really do want to see (I might pass on Valet)... I was "eh" about Spiderman myself, the weakest of the 3 for sure, but I didn't really hate it either.
Good seeing you guys, too! I was just thinking I should pay Reckless a visit. ;)
Yah, pass on The Valet...or at least wait until it comes on IFC or something. The rest are solid. I'm interested in reading your thoughts on Waitress...
Yah...I know! I sat there like, "Wait...I know him. Surely it can't be...no. He's dead. Who is this guy!?" lol. And, yep, it was Andy...as if back from the grave.
Oh come on! lol. It's impossible to really discuss this here because we would just spoil the movie for everyone, but didn't you take a little pleasure in the restrained performances, the delicate and complicated interplay between anger, repression, despair, hopelessness? Sure, at points Waitress was a little hokey (I agree with you about "old Joe", which TECHNICALLY is a spoiler ;), but even then I never found it disingenuous or excessively sentimental.
