Testing, one, two

Not that it matters, but:  The plan was to avoid the internets in general and LJ specifically for a period before and shortly after the release of Harry Potter 7 so as to remain spoiler-free...and it worked.  However, after finishing the book, I discovered I wasn't all that eager to get back online.  ;)  Anyway, I guess I'm thawing cuz here I am...

I LOVE these! You're so good!
I might be doing a wedding in Nov, and I might be doing the engagement shots, but it's not confirmed yet :(

Thanks and congrats on your November wedding! Hope you get to do the engagement photos...to some extent, I enjoy shooting those more than I do the actually wedding, lol.

Yup - the engagement photos will give room to your creativity more than the wedding will. I have done one for experience, and she said she thought they were good enough for me to go "pro" so to speak, and do a real one and get paid... so I'm kind of scared. I'm going to rent some better equipment though, and I think that is what really makes the difference for me. I take good pictures, but I have cheap lenses and brings the quality down. =\

Yeah, good idea to rent good lenses...the faster the better, obviously. Which camera body do you shoot with again?

I love your color saturation in general when it comes to your processing techniques... it's definitely distinctive from how I look at things. The only minor critique is it seems a lot of the detail in her hair gets lost in the contrast. I'm interested to see some of the shots you did in comparison to mine from the last wedding.

Hey! Thanks for the feedback. I actually considered dialing some of the detail in Irene's hair back in (cuz it's there in the original RAW), but since doing so didn't constitute an improvement to the photos (I found it even more distracting than the detail being absent, imo), I decided to go with my original take...

Just for you, I've processed a photo from the wedding, lol. These aren't the final versions (most likely...I only spent a few minutes on them). I can't tell yet if I reallyreally like this photo (i.e., will it wind up on my website?), but it was fun to edit (though her champagne-colored dress is probably going to be annoying...)

And here I thought you were on vacation again but were in Harry Hiding.

I quite like your post processing. It's always very rich. I love post processing! It's the besterest part!

Thanks. I'm still working it out, obviously...I'm partly still in search of that solid signature look and partly entranced by the endless flexibility PS provides. If this were film, I swear I'd be in the darkroom 16 out of 24 hours a day. Crazy. But, yeah, I love it this part. :)
