if it's not worth the time or effort to do nice things, it shouldn't be worth the time or effort to complain about it either.

you shouldn't go in to things with expectations of the outcome.
do it because you want to, because you know it's what you should do. not everyone is going to appreciate it, you can't expect them to. but getting approval or attention because of your actions shouldn't be the reason behind them.
