Fernando says it off the cuff and he thinks nothing of it. Lewis remembers. Fifth is Fernando's place and it has become a common joke. Nothing comes between Fernando Alonso and fifth place. Then something does. Lewis spends the first couple of hours thinking over his own race and all the might haves. He goes through the motions on the podium and it isn't until later that it all comes together. Fernando was with him. Therefore, Fernando was not fifth. Lewis laughs as he rolls over his bed and finds his feet, beams at no one as he grabs his phone and his room key and leaves his room. A few questions tell him where Fernando is and he all but bounces along the corridor. It only takes two knocks and a fist is in his shirt and pulling him into the room. Fernando remembers like he does. The champagne is waiting as it should be. So is the melted chocolate and the shaking head. Lewis beams.
Vague Lewis Hamilton/Nico Rosberg - pggemjamAugust 2 2014, 21:24:33 UTC
Nico is the one person he wants to ask that question to but he can't, not now, not when Nico's also the one he has to beat.
Lewis has never been good at asking for reassurance at the best of times but Nico always knew just how to give it. When they were kids, when Lewis wanted to be better than Nico at everything because Nico had a headstart in his eyes and Lewis wasn't going to bow down to him, even then Nico would find a way to let him know that he was good, that he was worthy, that he belonged.
Nico made it to Formula 1 a year before Lewis but he always talked about when Lewis joined him at the top, not if. He was never showy about it, never gave any words of inspiration or encouragement that would have had Lewis rolling his eyes, whether he needed them or not. He just quietly sat there, believing in Lewis, treating him like a worthy adversary, and really, that was all it took.
It all seems like a lifetime ago now and Lewis has never been in more need of the answer to that question. Do you believe in me? He looks across and Nico

Rob felt the pain as keenly as a knife to his heart. The world had stopped turning, the sun had ceased to shine, all the vibrancy the universe once had dulled into grey

Heheh, I realised halfway through writing this that Felipe had been to Disneyworld so he MUST have seen a Disney film at LEAST once! Hence my cop out in the middle ;) Glad you like!
