Hmmm, rather awkward considering this post wasn't about a girl, nor breaking up. I'm glad you care though.

I would say that the best part of breaking up is is generating the space needed to get along with someone you care about again. At least in your case.

Even though that sentence seems like connecting two completely separate events, I appreciate you positive approach.
