I know it's fruitless at this point, because clearly there are more Peggy stans here than Veronica stans, but I just wanted to defend the relevancy of Veronica Mars in 2015. Our fandom raised over 5 MILLION dollars for that movie. *Years* after the show had ended. If that doesn't embody the spirit of enduring fannish love, then I don't know what does.
Also, just because something's older, that doesn't make it less awesome. Nor do five million artist renditions of a character on Tumblr somehow give a character substance. (not saying Peggy doesn't have it, but I'm just sick of post after post being all about how she looks)
So let's just take a moment to celebrate the unlikelihood of VMars even making it to FMM this year to begin with. If you'd asked me the morning the movie campaign started whether this was all going to happen, I would've laughed.
It's never fruitless, when I heard that fan activity resulted in a movie, I was amazed! I'm actually surprised the race isn't closer right now, given that a lot of people I know still love Veronica Mars. (And pretty much squealed with joy when they heard about the movie)
I wound up voting for Veronica in the previous rounds, actually feel sorta bad Peggy's going up against someone so awesome--but sorta glad that it's a heroine we can respect so much. Two tough gals who use their brains more often than their beauty, duking it out in f-march-madness's last round.
Obviously I hope my character wins, (in part because I've never backed a winner before) but I hope Veronica made new fans too. Because Veronica Mars and her fans are as sweet as the best marshmallows ever made.
