Review of Kis-My-Ft2's Album "I Scream"
I know this is pretty late (the album was released ages ago *kicks self*) but here am I reviewing Kis-My-Ft2’s “I scream”.
Keep in mind that I am reviewing this on first impression.
Okay let’s start.
1-“5th” Overture:
This was so interesting. I like it. At first it sounded like the overture of a movie. The pace slowly got faster and it became more entertaining to listen to. 5/10
2- YES！ I SCREAM:
This song is so good. The rap sounds so fun and is easy to follow. The chorus is so catchy, I started singing along to it unconsciously. 8.5/10
3- Summer Breeze:
Summer songs are my favorite so I had high expectations for this one and it didn’t fail me in a weird way. The title fits it perfectly. It is pretty elegant and fun at the same time. I loved the sound of the waves at the beginning and end of the song, it was a nice touch. 8/10
4- Gravity:
Since I have listened to gravity before; I already like it. It is so cool with a slight EDM feel. I have to say this; the chorus is my favorite part. The other verses are pretty dull? 5/10
5- PSYCHO:
I was confused from the beginning till the end. The music has a traditional Japanese feel at some parts and at other parts it’s screaming. The rap is a huge part of this song; almost all the parts are them rapping. Which I don’t mind but I totally had different expectations. I thought It would be edgy and cool. I’m fine with it but I’ll need to listen to it a couple of times to like it. 4.5/10
6- ＆ say (北山宏光 ＆ 藤ヶ谷太輔):
This song killed me. This is way too cool for words. How can they be this cool? It was not an aimless song with edgy music it actually was enjoyable to listen to. The tempo kept getting faster and faster near the end which made me thrilled and BAM the song finishes. 7/10
7- Flamingo:
I fell in love from the first minute. This song has a soft R&B love song feel which I really love. The rap didn’t ruin the song’s atmosphere at all. I’ll definitely be listening to this a lot. 9/10
8- 夕空:
This song is the perfect ballad. It is really sweet and painful all at the same time. I find it really pleasing to listen to because it doesn’t leave you bitter and heartbroken; you just keep humming while bobbing your head to the soft rhythm. 8/10
9- 最後もやっぱり君:
Honestly speaking this is the first time I hear this song. I know it got released before but I didn’t pay much attention to it and now I regret it. It is so calm and harmonious. The lyrics are lovely too. 7/10
10- AAO:
Do I need to comment on this song? I loved this even before it got released. I remember listening to it from Kisumai’s radio and I got so hung up on it. I also remember editing my reports and projects while listening to this song because it is extremely motivating. Guess what? There is a rap near the end. I recall getting shocked when hearing the rap. It was already perfect but the rap completed it. Plus it’s really fun to imitate the dance when they preform it live and dance along. 8/10
11- メガ☆ラブ:
This song is fun! It is a wonderful pop song which is so catchy. I think it is the most normal song out of the whole album. It is normally fun. I “ mega loved” it. 6/10
12- MU-CHU-DE 恋してる:
This song is another good one. The lyrics are cute and the music is fascinating. What makes it different from other songs on this album is that it is a cheerful love song with remarkable music. This might be another of my favorites. 8.5/10
13- NOVEL -Album ver.-:
The sound of the piano in this song is mesmerizing. The vocals of the guys match it well. It is not slow nor an up tempo song which is its charm. The title fits perfectly with the lyrics. 8/10
14- Re:
This song has a lovely melody but then again lyrics wise it is my favorite. I’m really proud of the members for writing it. 8/10
15- I Scream Night:
This is another fun song. It has appealing music which will make you want to get up and start dancing. It is the perfect way to end this album. 6/10
• WANTED [bonus track]:
This is pretty lovely. It’s the perfect pop song. It has a catchy melody + wonderful lyrics. I loved the voices of all the members here. They were great. 6/10
Solo Songs:
1- 今ナニヲ想ウノ（北山宏光):
I didn’t picture this at all. I might be biased but I really loved this. It is so sweet and calming. The lyrics are so sad and they fit perfectly with the piano and Mitsu’s voice. 8/10
2- Get Ready（千賀健永）:
“This is my favorite song”. That is what I thought while watching the mv. I thought it might change but no, it’s still my favorite. It is way too good to the point that I can’t describe it in words. 9.5/10
3- ヲタクだったってIt’s Alright！（宮田俊哉):
This song confuses me. But I like Miyacchi’s voice plus its energetic and cute so…..? 5/10
4- ワッター弁当（横尾渉):
I love how the theme is cooking. This is cute and soothing plus it is fun to sing along to it and the tempo is easy to follow. ((WATTA’S VOICE IS CUTE)) 7/10
5- You're Liar♡（藤ヶ谷太輔）
Can I rate this without talking about it? No? Sorry. Let’s just say it’s totally not what I expected. At some parts the sounds freaked me out, I felt like something will jump at me and scare me. I don’t want to even know the translation of the lyrics. It is not my cup of tea nonetheless I liked it. 6/10
6- ALIVE（玉森裕太）
This pv was way too artistic for my taste so I tried to focus on the song itself and I love it. It might become my jam. Its weird mixing up calm Tama with EDM but it’s turned out to be a great combination. 7/10
7- ジョッシー松村のSCREAM（二階堂高嗣）
I loved this from the preview. I knew it was going to be great and it turned out to be epic! It fits Nika well and his comical personality. I’d like to see him challenging a cool song for the next album though. 7/10
I finally finished reviewing Kis-My-Ft2’s album “I Scream”.
I’d have to say “Summer Breeze”, “Flamingo” and "MU-CHU-DE 恋してる" are my favorite songs. And Sen-chan’s solo “Get Ready” is my favorite solo.
