"Solid-as-a-rock lover is the music in me"

Jul 03, 2006 01:01

Hmmm, so, it's been about a month since I returned from "the land beyond MBP" to which so many of us go, but so few actually stay. You keep thinking that this time around you're a bit older, a bit wiser, and things will be different ( Read more... )

I tend to think of it as my life partner.

it's true i don't know if we choose music or if it somehow finds us as the song suggests. i do believe it seduces as no other and it is rarely content but i wouldn't change it not for anything. not for anyone.

I think it finds us, which is why I find it so poignant. There are scores of people who choose music and struggle with it because they weren't meant for it. If you're meant to be a true musician, you just know. There are many conscious decisions to be make in pursuing your path, but the question of music itself is always a given.

I'm not so altruistic. Secretly, I'm just hoping that you'll burst in and win people over with your charm, thereby taking the sting out of my crotchety nature. Also, then I get to brag that you love me best.

If we've had one conversation about this, we've had a million, but your rebirth into the world makes my whole life-view seem a little brighter. It feels like we're both on the upward swing now, and I can never really seem to find the words to express how grateful I am to know that our family unit (and I mean yours and my relationship) has been nurtured to adulthood now. We don't have to worry about it like we did, worry quite so much about all the bullshit, and now the relationship can just do what it's meant to do: provide the touchstone. This is really unclear, but I think you'll understand, if no other way than by intuition, what I mean.

We can...write songs...about...fictional people? Huh? What is this foreign language you speak?

So, when I get super-bitchy, does that mean you'll balance it by being nice to people? I'm skeptical of this plan.

Also, then I get to brag that you love me best.

So true.

I get what you're saying. Who knew that growing up would come with benefits? Are we becoming mature? Perish the thought!

I know! It's this seemingly mythical art form, but apparently people do it all the time! like Stipey, and Tom Waits, and who knows, maybe even more! I mean, I kind of tried to do it with "the art teacher", but we both know that stemmed from my belief that I'm a beautiful, bored and tormented new york corporate wife in a parallel universe. i'd be so good at it. I'd eat pills for lunch and shag the doorman every second thursday at 3pm.

Maaaaaybe. I'm capable of being nice, it just takes a lot out of me. Like running a marathon.

I prefer to say "gaining maturity" as "becoming mature" and "maturing" both sound like "getting old" to me. If you're gaining something, that at least makes it sound like a trait instead of years.

You would have been such a good choice for Desperate Housewives.
