There's a story on today's AOL frontpage about the 'crisis' in America. A guy and his wife moved their family from Atlanta, where they made over $200K/year (for the record? With both of them in executive jobs that's not so huge) and had a nice place in the city, to a farm outside Nashville,, TN. And they're shocked - shocked, I say! - to find out ( Read more... )

The fuck? I knew all of that and I'm a total city kid. Actually, most of us thought all farmers were destitute and only kept farming because it was the only way they were sure to have food, but at least we didn't think it was *easy*.

It seems stupid. Hopefully they don't want a farm subsidy to "survive."

If you want to do that in retirement, more power to you. But to do it as a means to support yourself?
