I started watching the Classic series from about halfway through Jon Pertwee's era, by which time he's mellowed out considerably. I've recently gone back to watch his first episodes with Jo Grant and... he's sort of a dick to her.
Granted, when Jo herps, she derps, but she's also really well-meaning and cute, and eventually they become bros and it's great.
And I'm convinced they do stuff like this.
