so, Liam has an ear infection, laringitis, and possibly a hernia (hernia's an apparently rather common in babies).

combine that with the fact that he gets very cranky at night and you have a recipe GAAAHH, a delicacy on some planets.

gaaahh, fatherhood

The suck, dude. How does an infant get a hernia? Is he a champion crawler? Baby-kwon-do?

well, I looked up what a hernia actually is (I was fuzzy on it) and apparently it's "just" the seperation of two muscles, in particular the inguilia (which is a long, thin muscle that sits where the leg and groin meet) and the stomach muscles (I *think*). so, a hernia can happen if those muscles are too weak to keep hold of each other (so sayeth Liam's doctor), as well as under too much strain.

given that he doesn't do a lot of heavy lifting, it's most likely that one of the muscles involved didn't get strong quite fast enough.

fortunately, hernia correction is the most common infant surgery, so it's routine, quick, and simple.

Interesting. Well, here's to hoping that he gets better soon, and on top of that, that you can come to Plymouth for some much-needed RR on Labor Day weekend, or the weekend following it.

Nick had a hernia when he was a baby. Scrota are not supposed to hold intestines, let me tell you!

I had the infancy hernia thing, but it was not caught till I was like 4-6 or something... had to go in for surgery because of it... Had MUCH recovery time due to the lateness of it being discovered. So just be glad you caught it early.
