I'm utterly furious regarding this:

SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- Dozens of dead and injured seabirds found coated in black goo are the most visible victims of a 58,000-gallon oil spill in the San Francisco Bay, an incident that scientists say could threaten wildlife for years.

What sort of Homeland Security response were you looking for? Other than the Coast Guard remembering how to do environmental cleanup.

DHS is a dysfunctional agency. Hurray for them helping San Diegoans! But unlike NOLA, California has local gov'ts which work. Which is why I am furious that it took them so long to notify local authorities in the Bay Area.

I don't know what happened to the Coast Guard. I was a contract worker for the USCG and I reviewed oil spill manuals. But that was back when they were part of Dept. of Treasury.
