Character name: Rarity
Fandom: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Timeline: Season 2, end of episode 2.
Age: It is never stated in canon, but it’s a general consensus that the mane six are around their teens, in human years.
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: Rarity is a unicorn and can cast magic with her horn. While she doesn’t have the same range of abilities as Twilight Sparkle, she can use telekinesis to perform mundane tasks, such as holding objects and preparing s’mores, for instance - something that a regular earth pony would have trouble with, what with having no opposable thumbs.

More importantly, Rarity is a fashion designer and a seamstress, and she uses her magic to take out measures and operate the sewing machine and generally work on ensembles for every pony in Ponyville. Her horn also has a particular trait: it can track down rare gemstones that she uses for her dresses and accessories.

How would they use their abilities?: There would be makeovers everywhere. In fact, she would make the entire population of refugees look a hundred percent more fabulous. Possibly the Thor itself, as well.

Appearance: Rarity is a unicorn pony, and therefore she has a trademark horn on her forehead. Her coat is a light, blue-tinted shade of grey, and her curly mane is colored royal purple, to match her azure eyes. On her flanks, there are three small diamond-shaped patterns - her cutie mark. Image for reference!

Background/Personality:
Once upon a time, there was a teeny little filly working on costumes for a school play, and even though her teacher complimented the pony on her designs, she was a perfectionist, and far from satisfied with the end result. Then, her horn began to shine, and she thought it would take her to her destiny, but much to her disappointment, it ended up leading her to a large boulder. At that point, a beam of rainbow colors erupted in the sky and the boulder cracked, revealing it to be filled with several precious gemstones that she eventually used on her new creations.

That was when she earned her cutie mark, that one characteristic that sets a pony apart from all others, and Rarity became the most fabulous girl in all of Ponyville.

Years later, another pony by the name of Twilight Sparkle came to town and, after a rough encounter with Rainbow Dash, showed up by the city pavilion as Rarity worked on the decorations for the Summer Sun Celebration. To her horror, Twilight’s mane was in utter disarray, and she immediately offered the newcomer a makeover. Later on, they both met up with the other ponies at the town’s square, but instead of celebrations, they ran across Nightmare Moon, a mare with plans to bring eternal night over the world. At Princess Celestia’s request, Rarity set out along with her fellow ponies to find the Elements of Harmony and save Equestria from neverending nighttime.

One by one, each of the six ponies earned one of the Elements of Harmony, and Rarity’s turned out to be Generosity. It first became evident when the group stumbled upon a sea serpent who mournfully lamented the loss of his mustache, thus looking hideous, by his standards. Rarity could relate all too well with his pain and, as a way to counter such “crime against fabulosity” she selflessly cut off her own lustrous tail and replaced the monster’s mustache, sacrificing her beautiful looks so that the group could make progress. Once all six Elements were gathered, Nightmare Moon was defeated and reverted to being Princess Luna, the younger ruler of Equestria.

That would not be the only time Rarity’s generosity would come into play, however, as it is a defining trait of her personality. Most notably in Suited For Success, she made up her mind about manufacturing unique ensembles for each of her best friends so that they all could look their very best at the Grand Galloping Gala. Much to her dismay, the ponies didn’t quite approve of her original designs, and so she set out to make them yet another set of dresses, not only stressing herself out and ignoring her own instincts (she did exactly as the others instructed her this time around) but also leaving her own gown aside, all for the sake of pleasing her friends - and just to cap matters, a famous representative of the fashion world came to town just in time to see the ugliest dresses she ever made, leading her to a complete break down.

In fact, that is another very relevant aspect about Rarity: she absolutely loves beauty. If her cutie mark and career of choice aren’t enough proof of such, then her looks should do the trick. She takes excellent care of her fur and mane, going as far as scheduling weekly appointments at the local spa, as shown in Green Isn’t Your Color. More often than not, she’s impeccably well dressed, usually displaying one of her own creations; whether it’s a simple accessory such as a hat or headdress or an elaborate outfit, leave it to Rarity to always mind her appearance - and possibly every other pony’s, as well. All she ever wants is to make the world simply fabulous.

Of course, that is not to say she doesn’t get carried away with that notion; much on the contrary, actually. Her own vanity has led her to a couple of troublesome episodes; in Sonic Rainboom, when Rainbow Dash showed disappointment over the fact the group wouldn’t be able to see her perform in a competition in Cloudsdale, Rarity prompted Twilight to find a spell so they could all grow wings and support their Pegasus friend, ending up as the unicorn’s first test subject. As a result, she was granted a beautiful pair of wings, and she loved all the attention so much that she decided to join the competition at the last minute, without realizing that was only making Rainbow Dash even more nervous than before. Then, in Green Isn’t Your Color, she grew increasingly jealous of Fluttershy when she became a famous top model, even claiming she should be the one being mobbed by strangers instead. Fortunately she managed to work things out with her both her friends in the end, because friendship really is magic like that.

Rarity also often describes herself as a lady and, in fact, she does carry herself in a decidedly feminine way. Aside from her love for fashion and beautiful things, she once hoped to meet the stallion of her dreams at the Grand Galloping Gala - more specifically, Princess Celestia’s younger nephew, Prince Blueblood, who would eventually propose to her so she, too, could become part of royalty. However, once she actually meets him, he was revealed to be very conceited and rude, a “royal pain” in her own words, and her dreams were crushed. For the time being, at least.

That aside, she is full of mannerisms that reinforce her ladyship. She is quite possibly the most well-spoken of the main ponies, as evidenced by her elegant vocabulary and sophisticated phrasing, aside from her accent. Furthermore, she always carries herself with poise and grace, and she greatly minds proper manners and etiquette. She’s definitely not afraid to pointedly criticize her fellow ponies for not following her example, either.

Much like with her love for beauty, though, Rarity can also get carried with her eccentricities, sometimes losing sight of what’s truly important. She often displays a great horror at the very thought of getting messy and dirty, which led to conflicts with Applejack in Look Before You Sleep. Her excessive attention to detail has also given room to some trouble, both in said episode and in Winter Wrap Up, when she became so worried about fixing Twilight’s bird nest that she forgot all about the others she was supposed to make.

Something else that is worth noting is that, while she is a lady, Rarity is most certainly not a defenseless damsel in distress. In A Dog And A Pony Show, she was captured by a group of Diamond Dogs who feasted on precious gems, and therefore wanted to use the unicorn’s special talent to track down delicious snacks for them. With an impressive use of wits and a side of manipulation, however, she managed to annoy her captors to such extremes that they ended up willingly returning her to her rescue party, going as far as allowing her to bring a handful of carts loaded with gems that they dug out for her.

Ironically, Rarity can be a real drama queen over the smallest things. In Suited For Success, she had a break down after the fashion show fiasco, having even considered exile because she thought her career was ruined. In Lesson Zero, her screams of despair at having lost a diamond-encrusted ribbon could be heard from a distance, and later on she repeated the same routine once she realized she had failed to bring the plates to a picnic, claiming that “of all the worst things that could happen, this was the. Worst. Possible. Thing.” She seems to be fully aware of this, though, and when she calls Twilight a drama queen, she quickly claims that is relatively speaking, adding a weak grin to go with it.

Despite her shortcomings, Rarity does genuinely try her best to be a good friend, and also a good role model for her little sister, Sweetie Bell. The younger filly often pushes her to the limit (albeit not on purpose) especially when she invites her friends over for slumber parties or, more prominently, when she offers to “help” her sister at her boutique, often using Rarity’s most expensive fabrics to make poorly-stitched costumes for her friends. Even so, she makes sure to treat her little sister with nothing but patience, and while it is a dainty task at times, she does manage.

All in all, Rarity might be a pompous fashionista that might almost come off as shallow at first sight, but once anyone gets past that, it’s plain to see her greatest beauty is her heart.

Have you read up on how the game works?: Yes! The Guide plug-in that allows for communication between characters is called the FlamingFerret; as for how to earn money, a character can either do missions, open a business of their own or go the easy way and steal.

1st person sample:
No. No… No-ah, there we go! Diamonds always do the trick!

[And now that her Guide is properly accessorized (not that viewers can see anything but a unicorn and her fashionable little bag) the pony’s horn glows as she casts a spell on the communicator, holding it up in the air with telekinetic powers. There’s also a cat lazily stretching nearby, and she doesn’t seem to be giving particular attention to the camera.

By the way, those Vogons in snazzy suits and nice ascots in the background? Definitely a courtesy of Rarity.]

Now, to whoever is responsible for this operation, let us set a few things straight. [A flip of her mane later, she goes on.] It is unacceptable to give a lady such poor treatment upon arrival, especially so when you were so uncouth as to whisk her away in the process of creating her latest masterpiece. As such, I demand this ponynapping to be ceased immediately, or else I will have to take matters in my own hooves.

[The cat gives out a mewl for attention.] Oh, don’t be silly, Opal. I’m absolutely positive these kind sirs will provide us with reasonable accommodations in the meantime. Isn’t that right, boys?

[At first, the Vogons’ only response is to grumble at this very demanding newcomer. But then Rarity offers them these huge, wobbly eyes, along with a pout. Somehow, that seems to work.]

Yes, miss Rarity.

3rd person sample:
Well, that had been quite disappointing.

When Rarity had offered to make outfits for each of her friends for the Grand Galloping Gala, she knew exactly what to do. In her mind, the dresses would match each individual pony’s personality: something fetching for Rainbow Dash, something breezy for Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie’s would definitely be pink, just to name a few. Time wasn’t on her side, and the unicorn did promise a different, stunning, original and amazing outfit for five ponies (plus herself) in a very short span of time, but that would be no problem. Dress-making was easy, after all.

But when the day came, her friends didn’t exactly like her designs.

It had been a blow to her pride, yes, but Rarity pushed those thoughts aside for the moment. The important thing was for her friends to be 110% satisfied with their ensembles, and so she decided to make them yet another set of dresses, this time taking in their personal suggestions so they would get exactly what they wanted. It didn’t matter that didn’t know a thing about fashion, or that her shop would turn into a mess, or even that she would be so stressed worrying about those custom outfits that she wouldn’t get the chance to work on her own. Above her love for fashion was her love for her friends, and as long as they were happy, the same could be said about her.

Still, she was a fashionista. Her heart might be in the right place, but as she glanced at the new, finished models standing side by side, she couldn’t help but let out a long-suffering sigh. Her flair for drama was perfectly justified this time.

“Oh, Opal. These are the ugliest dresses I have ever made.”

Oh, the things she did for friendship.

Questions?: Is it okay if Rarity brings her pet cat, Opalescence, with her?

Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: Will do!
