I feel weird saying this because I know most people like to wait awhile before they get a new pet when one dies, but...I actually kind of like to channel that grief into a new animal. I'll probably never have so much love and devotion to give to a new cat and Oskar too as while I'm still sad about losing Tacy. I mean, normally I'm pretty selfish ( Read more... )

I'm sorry to hear about your loss - I was away from the internet for a while. I knew your kitty was sick, of course, but it's so awful losing a beloved pet. I'm glad to hear about your new kitties. I'll bet that tabby turns out to be a beloved pet, too.

Oh, yeah, I wont be surprised if the tabby ends up being my little darling...I pressured Dade to adopt Tacy and she became his baby, and then he convinced me to adopt Oskar under protest--I swore we'd never get a kitten!--and he became my baby. So who knows how this will actually end up...

It's wonderful that you're able to welcome these new additions after a tough loss. They are such lucky kitties!

lol. It's okay, I like cat ramble. I always enjoy your kitten fostering posts!

The lonely-other-cat was a concern for me, too. Tacy wasn't really a good companion for Oskar--he's such an active, friendly cat--and I'd actually been wanting another younger cat for a while to play with him, but I was really afraid they'd gang up on Tacy, or even if they didn't, I knew it would add to her stress, so I couldn't. She's been sick for over a year now, so it's been a long time to wait to get Oskar a playmate. Well, he ought to have fun with a one-year-old in the house...(he is so going to hate me tomorrow when I bring home ANOTHER stranger...but I'm sure he's going to love it once he's used to them.)

Jackie, I'm so sorry! The loss of a kitty companion is so horrible. I lost the best cat, my most favorite kitty companion ever, Orpheus, about 3 years ago. I'm glad you got a new kitty and glad to see pictures of her! She's beautiful. Anyway, (internet hugs). Hope you are okay.
