oh god. I hate it when when fans ask fanfic questions, I just want bury my head in embarrassment when it happens. This guy at Creation in Vancouver this year asked Joe to make some manly grunts and groans for him. It was weird...and awkward. Poor Joe. He attracts some of the crazies.
Sure the fanfic questions are not welcome at conventions, but I doubt it's only the slash fanfic authors who ask. Slash authors are not in any way worse than het or gen authors when it comes to ask the inevitable stupid questions :(.
In another comment I posted: "I should clarify, there's nothing wrong with slash. I'm not saying that. Not my thing but perfectly fine if that is what tickles your nethers. Asking about fanfic *period* is weird. I've just only been around when slash questions were asked."
EDIT: I will now refrain from making any kind of comments about any of that. My apologies. I don't want to get fired so soon!
You know, reading the comments I almost got the feeling fanfiction is something to be ashamed of. I reject that notion.
I think it's really not about fanfiction but about tact. Asking a person (with whom one has just about nothing to do with personally) a question - regardless of the topic, fanfic or no - that goes way into their privacy is tactless. So no, that is not okay. Anything else, though, is fair game.
(And I really mean the comments; Joeface and caption are funny because I chose to take it that way. 'Cause what would fandom be if we couldn't make fun of ourselves - a big fat wank fest, that's what.)
