Ten Drabbles Set to Music: A Meme filled by Man-D.
Fandom: Homestuck

These range in rating from G to PG-13! Spoilers for updates up to 12/20, as well as a warning for blood, character death, and some crazy troll romance shenanigans.

1. Daniel Cowman - Regina Spektor

It was a doomed timeline, he told himself. It didn’t make much sense if this one lived or died; after all, wasn’t it better if he gave him a happy ending, anyway?

The god tiers awaited him after all. Fucking Egbert had run away with his chance, so why couldn’t Dave? It seemed fair, after all. He did more work than that loser did.

Putting the sword away, he stepped off the quest bed.

Let the lucky bitch die in some other way. Dave wasn’t going to give him the pleasure of getting what he couldn’t have.

2. Xo - Fall Out Boy

She hates the way he looks, like some sort of grumpy insect. Jade couldn’t think of another way to describe him, even when John told her it wasn’t very nice. It seemed the most fitting, to describe Karkat as some sort of bug, when he acted like it all the time.

She hates it when he talks to her too, loud and annoying, like the buzzing of a fly. He keeps yelling, and she keeps tuning him out, until finally he gives up and just walks away to yell about her to someone else.

She isn’t sure what she thinks about the other times, the times when his mouth is on hers, after telling her that he hates her, that he wishes she would die. She’s not sure what kind of feeling that is, and so she shoves him away. She tells him that he’s disgusting, and he frowns, but shuts up for a bit. She’s not sure what that means, but isn’t sure if she wants to find out.

3. Ne Me Quitte Pas - Regina Spektor

Jade refused to stop reading Dave’s comic, even when he found out that she didn’t read it purely for the irony. She was one of his million fans, she told him, accenting the end of the line with a smiley face and later, with a heart.

Dave wasn’t sure exactly why she genuinely liked it; maybe she just had a thing for ironic drawings of people falling down stairs. But he felt proud when she told him that she loved it. He had one fan that wrote him at least, and pretty damn regularly. And who cared if she didn’t like it quite like she was supposed to?

It was still pretty cool, all things considered.

4. Dracula - Gorillaz

Nightlife thrilled him, somewhere deep down in his soul. If he even had one of those, that is. Droog didn’t concentrate so much on the specifics, preferring instead to keep to himself and his whiskey, sometimes downing a bottle a night.

It was entertaining, to watch the men and women filter through the bar as if they owned it, knowing full well that their addictions would lead them to short lives. He sniffed, slightly, a laugh if he ever had one. He wasn’t that careless.

And then he’d take another sip, a long one.

5. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - Across the Universe OST (Bono Remake)

It was damn good pie.

The world was beautiful again -- but wasn’t it always? -- and Gamzee smiled, staring out at the sea. It glowed tonight, the color a translucent blue, and he wondered what it would be like to swim. Not that he had ever learned, or ever been able to, but it was a thought.

Man, that had been some good pie. His thoughts drifted as he lay on the shore, staring at the water.

6. The Saltwater Room - Owl City

“Eugh, agh, no Fef, my hair’s gettin’ all messed up!”

Eridan complained all the way into the water, getting in up to his knees and crossing his arms, refusing to go further. Feferi was already swimming, her eyes peeking up above the water to watch her moirail.

“Come on, Eridan! It’ll be fun, I promise!” She swam back towards him, standing up to try and pull him into the water. He refused to budge, shaking his head and backing up towards his hive.

“There’s no way I’m gettin’ in that water, Fef, that’s final. You hear me?” Looking down at his pants, Eridan sighed. Wet, they clung to his legs awkwardly. His shoes were filled with water; they were obviously not meant for swimming excursions. Feferi sighed, her face falling.

“Okay. Some other time, then.” Eridan was too busy checking to make sure the water hadn’t messed up other parts of his outfit to hear her. She dove back in, leaving without saying another word. Looking up, Eridan realized Feferi was missing and ran back into the water, forgetting completely about his sopping clothing. He got waist deep before stopping.

“Fef? Are you there? Come on, Fef, I was just jokin, I’ll swim with you!” He paused and heard only the sounds of the sea.

“I always mess everythin’ up.”

7. Proverb - Steve Reich

Being dead didn’t bother Aradia as much as she thought it would.

Everything was surprisingly clear now. Her objectives were no longer clouded with confusion and feelings, making them easy to achieve in a short amount of time. She no longer resented those who had done her harm, no longer wished for revenge. Aradia didn’t even notice that perhaps, she no longer felt anything for those who had once felt flushed for her. These feelings no longer occurred to her; she simply chose those who she spoke with with care. Since she never had a need to speak to either of those people directly, she simply waited for them to contact her. If they ever did.

And she was all right with that.

8. Fall Away - The Fray

Knitting is so simple.

Knit, knit, purl, purl, unravel if it gets messed up or a stitch gets dropped. With Rose, this rarely ever happens, but it is always good to practice. She takes one of her older scarves, a creature so hideous that she had hidden it away for good measure, and carefully unravels the end. She takes the entire scarf apart, leaving nothing but a worn and tangled piece of yarn when she is finished.

And then, carefully, she casts on, restarting the horrifying scarf. The stitches this time are neater, more aligned. Rose likes this scarf better already.

9. Home - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

Grandpa returned to the island after midnight, long past Jade’s supposed bedtime. Creeping through the foyer, he knew his way between the various items cluttering the hall by heart. By the fire, Bec slept soundly, guarding the house in his absence.

“Good boy,” Grandpa muttered, walking over to pet their guardian. His tail wagged lazily, enjoying the praise. Finally, Grandpa looked over at the couch, already expecting the sight before him.

“Grandpa?” The little girl on the couch sat up, rubbing at her eyes. Once she realized who it was, she stumbled off of the furniture and ran into his arms. “You’re home!” He picked her up, swinging her around in circles. Bec wagged his tail faster, happy to see everyone safe and sound.

“I missed you Grandpa!” The little girl smiled, throwing her arms around his neck. Grandpa chuckled, carrying her towards the transportalizer.

“I missed you, as well. Now, it’s time for little girls to be in bed, don’t you think?”

10. Thanks for the Memories - Fall Out Boy

Radiation streamed through his body, making him feel immortal.

Hell, he was immortal, in a way. With this power -- all of the power -- no one could beat him. Jack crowed, victorious. The human and sprite in front of him stood no chance, pathetic as they were.

He stole the glasses, of course. They were a prize, the victory lap of a game well-played. Jack watched as the light faded from the older brother’s eyes, wondering if he had wanted to die for his younger sibling, or if it was simply a role he had to play in this game.

It was all a game, after all. The blood on the clockwork could only say so much, and he Jack had to have a laugh. If this was a game, then it was his game. There were no rules he could not create and break, occasionally.

And oh, how he loved making up the rules.
