...on occupy

over the last two months or so, since they started, i've been doing a lot of thinking about the Occupy protests, but very little talking about the phenomenon. i still can't say i have a coherent or fully fleshed-out opinion or narrative about them, but these are the ideas that keep reoccurring in my mind most often.

On paragraph two, I guess I've always sort of felt that way once I realized the future I expected and wanted (everything is ok, nothing bad ever happens, people are faithful, marriage matters) sort of crumbled and I reset my life. I wasn't able to put into words quite as elegantly as you did, so thank you.

I have libertarian friends, and before this whole occupy movement, they would ask me 'why don't you seem to care'. The key point was I do care, but I recognize the futility of it, so I try to do the best I can to work within the rules that the world has given rather than change the rules.

My mantra lately has been "You don't have to follow the law, but you do have to follow the rules", if that makes any sense.
