Hopelessness.
I want to give those whom I care about every opportunity to see the conflicts within themselves and between others, and to have an opportunity to resolve them. However, I really don't have faith that just anyone will give my opinions a moment's thought, particularly if I am not already in a position of respect to those people. It's all to easy for people to shrug off even considerable incongruities, especially from enemies or strangers. Given that, it's easiest for me to nod in smile. That said, if it's my own peace at risk, if keeping quiet will cause something to boil inside of me until I feel like bursting, a desire for my own health and well-being won't allow me to just sit on that and wait for it to hurt me--for me to hurt myself.
